Oriental3d PLA is made from biodegradable plant-based materials, primarily derived from renewable resources such as corn starch. While these materials are generally considered safe, it is important to note that Oriental3d PLA is not certified for food contact. Although the raw materials might be food-grade, there is no guarantee against contamination during the printing process. For food applications, it is recommended to use certified food-safe materials or coatings for added safety.
Yes, a humid or underwater environment can adversely affect the performance and durability of PLA and its variants. PLA is biodegradable and prone to moisture absorption, which can lead to a decrease in mechanical properties and print quality over time. In underwater settings, prolonged exposure to water can further degrade the material. If you need a more durable option for these environments, consider using Oriental3d ASA, which offers better resistance to moisture and UV light.
Yes, high temperatures can significantly affect the strength of PLA and its variants. PLA has a relatively low glass transition temperature of around 60°C (140°F), making it susceptible to softening and deformation when exposed to elevated temperatures. For applications that require better heat resistance, here are the Vicat Softening Temperatures of other materials:
The marble texture of Rock PLA is achieved by adding marble powder and it is mainly composed of inorganic calcium carbonate. Consider 0.6 mm hardened nozzle for best results.
Oriental3d Rock PLA and Rock-type filament may not inherently damage nozzles, their composition can lead to increased wear depending on the nozzle material.
The total length of a color change cycle is approximately 60 meters. A 1 kg roll contains about 5.5 color change cycles, featuring four distinct colors: red, yellow, green, and blue. In one cycle, the lengths of each color are roughly as follows: red (12-15m), yellow (12-15m), green (12-15m), and blue (12-15m). For small print pieces, the gradient effect may not be very noticeable. To enhance the gradient effect, you can increase the material consumption in your slicer settings.
The total length of a color change cycle is approximately 26 meters. A 1 kg roll contains about 12 color change cycles, featuring two distinct colors: light blue and white. In one cycle, the lengths of each color are roughly as follows: light blue (13m) and white (13m). For small print pieces, the gradient effect may not be very noticeable. To enhance the gradient effect, you can adjust your slicer settings to increase the overall material consumption.

I got suggested this brand by a friend that has been printing for 8 years and boy am I happy I listened. This has been an amazing filament for me as a beginner to 3d printing. This filament prints beautifully on my slightly modified Ender 3 V2. Filament arrived in great condition (dry and clean) sealed well in a vacuum sealed bag with a desiccant. Super strong yet slightly brittle (just as PLA should be). The matte finish seems to help hide a lot of minor artifacts inherent to fdm printing (layer lines, seams, ect). The thickness is spot on as measured by my calipers and proven consistent by the fact I have had zero extrusion issues through 3 full rolls of this stuff. Very minimal smell while printing.

The finish of this filament is easily my favorite. Structurally, it’s not as robust as their PLA Professional. My biggest warning is this filament can be a bear to extrude right if your extruder setup isn’t in perfect shape. The matte finish tends to slip more than regular pla in the extruder gears. If you can overcome that, it’s a fantastic filament. Just make sure you properly dry it. Matte pla and petg absolutely suck up moisture.

The wood print is great and looks really good depending on what design you use. I printed a young Groot and the minimal tree-supports pulled the hand off one side and the arm off the other. I’m no expert but I’m no noob either. I was careful but the filament is more brittle than most other PLA filament I use. Still, I’m overall satisfied with it.

This is a really great underrated pla commonly on sale for very affordable prices. Ive printed 2kg of this in black with consistently excellent results at up to 300mm/s!
